Discussion of creating effective land-use regulations for des Montes included the following tasks to be completed in a timely manner:
Obtain recently adopted land-use documents from Upper Los Colonias via www.cybermesa.com/-laplum and Tune Drive neighborhood associations for our review and education.
  1. Contact members of the above associations, as well as a representative from the county, for guidance in the process of developing regulations for the des Montes area.
  2. Recruit neighbors who will demographically represent des Montes as we work to acquire a true consensus, with the shared goal of protecting and enhancing the future of our community. Request a specific contact from the Taos Planning Board to advise us throughout the process. (possibly Ed Vigil)
  3. Meet with Arroyo Seco official Joe Torres to explore the possibility of joining Upper and Lower des Montes into one stronger community association to effectively voice our concerns.
  4. Adopt appropriate land-use regulations to present to Taos County officials for approval at a public meeting.
  5. Garage Sale Oct. 15 Kate Duffy is spearheading this community service project as an enjoyable day to bring people together. Kate hopes to have at least 10 residences in des Montes where numerous neighbors can display their ‘treasures’ for sale. There is no charge. Advertising publicity will be provided. Mandy Stapleford will work on making signs and ‘getting the word out’. Andy Montoya volunteered to post signs.
  6. Apple-Pressing Party Kate Duffy reports event planning is underway with a tentative date set for Oct. 22.
Next meeting Oct. 11 will include: discussion of the land-use regs from Los Colonias firming up plans for the garage sale and apple pressing party finalizing our regular meeting calendar for the ’05-06 school year, which will be submitted to Principal Hearn.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathleen McGinty
